Adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea on February 24, 2023
In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Korea-United States diplomatic relations,
Expecting advancement of the bilateral relationship and continuous cooperation on their shared goals of prosperity of the two countries; peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula; and freedom, peace, and prosperity throughout the world,
The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea hereby resolves to:
1. Reiterate that Korea-US diplomatic relations have laid the foundation for democratization and economic development in Korea and become the linchpin of peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and around the globe, while clarifying that it is necessary to expand and develop their relationship for the sake of the common prosperity of the two countries;
2. Welcome the elevation of the Korea-US relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership during the bilateral leaders’ summit in May 2022, and commit to pushing ahead with legal and institutional supports for its development and improvement;
3. Call upon the two governments to make practical and continuing efforts to effectively control the advancement of North Korean nuclear and missile threats and to seek a permanent peace in the region through dialogue;
4. Urge the two governments to strengthen cooperation on cyber security and on core and emerging technologies such as those in the semiconductor, quantum, biotech, autonomous robot, artificial intelligence, nuclear power, and aerospace sectors, and to deepen cooperation on economic and energy security to ensure a stable global supply chain.
